The Forgers

The last two posts show some amazing devotion to friendship, and although anyone who knows me will tell you I lack a certain amount of pathos, these posts strike an important chord with me.

In the last weeks, Mike has lost his best friend.  Keith's challenges with friendships continue to deepen.

This summer, the forgers have had limited personal interactions with each other.  Work, travel, and life demands keep us from being as close as we would normally like to be.

But we continue to write on this blog.

Speaking for myself: my life and my work demand too much of my time to devote to the closest of my friends.  I continue to carve time to post on this blog.

Why?

I know that these three men believe in me.  I know that they trust me to write.  Certainly, I may have an off-week or two (or many), but they know that I will come through.

For this blog and beyond.

I believe the same for them.

We are four writers from four very different perspectives and backgrounds.  We don't always see eye to eye (I diverge for a moment to bring up dangling participles.  Mostly, we can laugh about how much we misunderstand the meanings of dangling participles, but let's just say, that for a time, we didn't laugh about the participles).

In the end, we believe in each other and trust each other to come through in the end.  And sometimes, that is why we write.

We tell each other, "Write on."

  1. Excuse me, who are you again? I seem to remember you, but it has been a while. I don't know what you mean about dangling participles at all. I had it down pat. You guys screwed it up. You hit it on the head my dear Heather. No matter what, we seem to have each other's back, and I can't say the same for other people we know. That is the definition of friendship.

  2. Friends, certainly... Except for the time, Keith, when you and I wrote exotic pieces on FFI evoking the dangling participle while Heather and Mike chickened out. Bawk! Bawk!! Some friends they are, I tell ya. Oh. By the way, here's the link to Keith's erotic dangling participle tale:
